Fire crews said flames were coming out of the windows and doors, leading to the homes destruction. It took crews around 20 minutes to get the fire under control, and that’s when they found the victim not far from the front door.

“When it’s a fatal fire, we have to call in the state police. And so we’re going to wait for them to get here and do their investigation. And hopefully we can come up with the cost of the fire. Nobody else got treated. The ambulance was here and no one else was no smoke or anything like that,” Fire Chief Chris Damvelt from the Harrison Community Fire Department said.

The state police investigators arrived on the scene at 11:30 a.m. to begin searching for the cause of the fire.
