Hook & Hunting: New research suggests deer helped spread COVID-19 to humans

New research suggests that deer have spread COVID-19 to humans multiple times.

Scientists from the U.S. Department of Agriculture looked at thousands of samples from white-tailed deer throughout the U.S. and found that they were able to trace the spread of COVID between humans and the deer.

They discovered 109 independent spill-over events, and that it was likely started by a previously infected person.
