Our nation’s heroes who have been struggling to get the dental care they need could be eligible for a new program.

Grand Traverse County Veterans Affairs just received funding for free dental care services. Money for those services is coming from the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency.

It’s a one-time program and you may not get this opportunity again, so Grand Traverse County Veterans Affairs is encouraging lower income veterans to apply. It’s based on 300% of the federal poverty guideline and it’s first-come, first-serve.

The goal of the program is to help veterans who normally can’t afford dental work regain their self-image.

“It’s important to one’s quality of health, sense of pride for oneself, because, you know, sometime people when they have bad hygiene with their teeth, they don’t feel great about themselves,” said Michael Roof, Director of Grand Traverse County Veterans Affairs.

Again, this program is income based, so contact Grand Traverse County Veterans Affairs to make sure you qualify.
