22 2 None’s Mission to Prevent Veteran Suicide

September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month. Suicides are highest among the veteran population with an average of 22 every day.

That’s a statistic the non-profit 22 2 None wants to help bring to zero here in northern Michigan and across the country. They offer many services to help, like their barracks at the former South Boardman Elementary School. They have transitional housing and community outreach for veterans and their families.

22 2 None encourages veterans who are struggling and contemplating suicide to give them or someone they trust a call to talk things over.

“How can I reach out to somebody or who should I reach out to right way when I know I have an issue?  They’ve made that connection already.  We offer boxing classes and guitars for vets. And also a connection with other organizations that services that we don’t such as the VA,” said 22 2 None President, Ray McDaniel.

He also say they have  access to so many avenues to help, either through a tough situation or even before a situation becomes dire.
