This weekend is the Michigan DNR’s Liberty Hunt — where children and people with disabilities are able to get out and hunt deer.

Children ages 16 and younger, accompanied with an adult, and people with disabilities can get out and hunt deer all across the state.

Hunters have to have antler-less, a combination, or single deer license, and wear hunter orange.

The DNR says its a chance early in the season for hunters young and old to get out enjoy what they love.

“It’s an opportunity to help recruit some future hunters and then also to retain some other hunters who may not have been able to participate during the firearm deer season due to limitations,” said Michigan DNR Law Enforcement Lt. Joe Molnar.

The Liberty Hunt runs on Saturday and Sunday Sept. 10 and 11.
