Amazing Northern Michigan Homes: Kewadin Horse Lover’s Dream

Just north of Kewadin on 30 acres of land, is a beautiful log home that is the perfect spot to raise a family and maybe even a family of horses.

“It’s just got a nice up north feel to it, lots of wood, it’s nestled back here, very private and secluded but yet you have everything you need for horse property and equestrian usage too,” said real estate broker with Re/Max Don Fedrigon.

The property is a horse lovers dream and the warm and welcoming house has a rustic beauty to it.

“We’re in a log home a little over 4,000 square feet, five bedrooms, four baths,” he said. “Beautiful views of the pastures and riding arenas, a little peak at Grand Traverse Bay.”

The house is loaded with unique details like the custom wrought iron railings and the gates in the entry way.

Also adding some contrast to the woodsy, log cabin feel are the chandeliers that can be found on the main floor and in the master suite.

“Built by local craftsmen, it’s half log, white cedar; interior is all pine,” said Fedrigon. “We have reclaimed stained glass windows and also light fixtures from churches in the Detroit area. Just a lot of nice quality features.”

On the main floor, more unique light fixtures hang above the soap stone counter tops and the heartland classic oven in the gourmet kitchen.

Taking up the entire upper floor, is the spacious master bedroom with vaulted ceilings, his and hers closets and sitting area.

Fedrigon says “huge master suite with also stained glass, a lot of bookshelf’s and built-ins, just a nice open ceiling and beautiful room.”

The craftsmanship extends outdoors as well, with an elevated agricultural platform.

“The agricultural platform has a deck that runs all the way around the outside,” he said. “It does have heat and has a nice view of the lower level of the property and it’s a great playhouse, guest home, just a nice feature.”

And for the avid equestrian in the family…

“There’s riding trails through the woods on both sides of the house,” he said. “There’s a tack room, there’s four horse stalls, a wash rack, a riding arena.”
