Hook and Hunting: North American Snow Festival’s Third Annual Ice Fishing Contest

Many are hoping the temperatures warm up just a tad this weekend for the North American Snow Festival’s Third Annual Ice Fishing Contest.

It is this Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Lake Cadillac and Lake Mitchell.

In years past, they’ve seen up to 700 people involved in this event.

This year, organizers say it’s been a slow start for registration, likely because of this week’s weather, but many prizes are in store.

“The unique thing about our tournament is, anyone can win a prize whether you catch a fish or not. Once you’re signed in we pay major prizes to the biggest pike, walleye, croppy, blue gill, perch and then from then on we just draw entry blanks and you get a prize,” said Steve Knaisel, an organizer of the contest.

You can register at Pilgrim’s Village until 9 a.m. Saturday morning.
