New State Record Set for Quillback Carpsucker

This picture submitted to the DNR is now the new state record quillback carpsucker.

The fish was caught by Benjamin Frey from Hardy Dam Pond in Newaygo County back in August. Frey was bow fishing.

It weighs 8.25 pounds and measured over 22-inches. The last state record holder for a quillback carpsucker was at 8.12 pounds.

This is the fifth state-record fish caught in 2014.
